THE WEST MILL DOCUMENTARY DERBYSHIRE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
The super lovely, amazingly kind, and welcoming Sammy-Jo and Jamie celebrated their awesome wedding in style with a superb industrial-chic affair at the magnificent and arresting wedding venue, The West Mill, situated in Darley Abbey, Derby, a village renowned for its 18thcentury industrial heritage. This fabulous occasion was not short of personality, zestfulness and finesse. This lovely and creative couple ensured each element well and truly reflected their wonderfully vibrant character and passion.
Set within this lovely historical village, and just on the outskirts of Derby City, The West Mill is a captivating Grade I listed former industrial mill, that dates back to the early 1800’s. After being restored and converted into an awesome, contemporary wedding venue, it created the idyllic backdrop for a stylish and exuberant couple such as Sammy-Jo and Jamie. The stunning bride looked absolutely dazzling in her beautifully detailed ‘Hatsy’ dress by Ronal Joyce, completing this elegant look with Anna Klein shoes and a fantastic headpiece by Jenny Packham. The Groom looked debonair in his dashing attire by Dapper Dan’s Suit Hire.
Emotive moments, from twinkling smiles, guffawing laughter and happy tears were captured throughout the day, particularly during the heartening ceremony and speeches, it was truly a pleasure to capture such significant, unrepeatable glimpses of this joyous day. With sublime exposed brick walls, barrel-vaulted ceilings and cast iron column beams, the textures and aesthetics were incredible, amalgamating perfectly with the couple’s personal touches and industrial chic vibe.
Each aspect of this wedding was amazing and detail driven from the delectable cake provided by Susan Hughes from The Butterfly Bakehouse, to the floral table arrangements, button holes and bouquets designed and presented by Isabel Garbett. What was particularly impressive was the dining table centre pieces which consisted of the bride’s hand sewn illustrations of all the destinations herself and Jamie visited. It was great to see that San Francisco was at the top table, as that is where the couple got engaged. This showed the newlywed’s limitless creativity and devotion to evoking personal character on their special day, including the copper geometric shapes that were also handmade by the bride and groom themselves. Many intricate attributes such as the light bulb favours tied the day together perfectly, adding an essence of fun and wonderful eccentricity.
The awe-inspiring lighting at the venue created a dramatic backdrop for photographs, and the sparkler shots were fantastic, it was truly a magical moment. With the Dirty Weekend band and DJ set throwing out some bangers it was awesome seeing everyone dancing and having such a fun time. A day filled with love radiating through the room, emitting from the glowing couple, and shown through family and friendship, a wedding executed with style, creativity and happiness.
A massive thank you goes out to the wonderful Sammy-Jo and Jamie for nominating us this year for the prestigious TWIA- The Wedding Industry Awards. Thank you so much, we really do appreciate it, you are both so super kind. You both Rock!
